Tim Barteau was admitted to practice in California in 2005.  Mr. Barteau’s practice is primarily focused on providing counseling and litigation services for clients in estate planning, trust and probate, and taxation matters.  Mr. Barteau also assists with the firm’s civil litigation group and has substantial experience handling the defense of civil claims at all levels.  In this latter role, he has represented corporate clients in various capacities, including manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, general contractors, and premises owners.

Mr. Barteau received his Bachelor’s Degree in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1999 and his Juris Doctor from Indiana University – Maurer School of Law in 2004.  While attending law school, he was an Articles Editor for the Indiana Law Journal and received “top brief” recognition in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition.  Additionally, he served as an extern for the Honorable Kennard P. Foster, Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

Mr. Barteau went on to earn his LL.M. (Masters of Laws) in Taxation Law and his Estate Planning Certificate, both from Golden Gate University, graduating with honors.  He is active in the State Bar of California’s Trusts and Estates Section and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Marin County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice law before all California state courts.

Mr. Barteau was raised in Marin County and returned home following law school to begin a family and practice law in his community.  He currently lives in Tiburon with his wife and two children.  In his spare time, he trains for and competes in various events including marathons and triathlons.

Mr. Barteau was recognized as a Superlawyer Northern California Rising Star in 2013 and 2014 by San Francisco Magazine.
